Scaling TrueValue to One Million Users: Lessons from the Trenches

When we launched, we designed for tens of thousands of users. Within months, we were serving hundreds of thousands. Here is every bottleneck we hit and how we solved it.

Caching Strategy

  • Redis cluster for session management and hot-path caching
  • Edge caching via CDN for static assets
  • Application-level memoization for computed dashboards
  • Cache invalidation tied to domain events rather than timers

Async Everything

We moved all non-critical-path operations into background task queues. This single change reduced our median API response time by 60 percent.

Scaling is not about writing faster code. It is about doing less work in the request path.
